No-Waste Dressing

Stop shelling out the dollars for bottled salad dressings when you could be saving for a weekend brunch or a bag of macaroons instead. You don’t have to sacrifice a boringly bland bowl of veggies for dinner (which can run upwards of a million dollars if you’re shopping at Khim’s on Bushwick Ave!) just so you can grab a beer after work tomorrow. Put your $5 away and listen up.

We don’t often agree with ice queen of the WASPs, Miss Martha Stewart, but this is one recipe of hers we just adore. The next time you’re stuck with a couple jars of almost-finished condiments and a craving for some salad, this classic Martha recipe is great for using up what you got.

All you need to make your own no-waste dressing?
-A crushed garlic clove
-Some chopped fresh herbs
-Minced shallot
-Balsamic vinegar

Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Season with salt and pepper. Shake. Add olive oil, shake again to emulsify dressing, and add to your lunch or dinner.
